Zaanse Schans is home to one of the Netherlands’ last pewter foundries. This traditional craft does not involve any machines. All the products are cast and finished by hand. All the moulds used are antiques made of bronze, the oldest dating from 1697. The pewter foundry gives daily demonstrations. Inside, you will find the largest range of pewter products available in the Netherlands. De Tinkoepel at Zaanse Schans is housed in a listed building dating from the second half of the 18th century. This beautiful, romantic building used to be a teahouse, located on the banks of the River Zaan as it still is today in its current location. Like many other buildings, it was moved to Zaanse Schans in 1968 from its original position in Zaandam.
